WOKHA — In commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as the ‘Iron Man of India,’ My Bharat Wokha, in coordination with the Wokha district administration, organised a district-level ‘Unity March’ on Tuesday.
The march began at 7 am from Police Point and culminated at Mount Tiyi College, Wokha, with enthusiastic participation from students, government officials, and members of the public.
A formal programme was held at Mount Tiyi College, beginning with a flag-off rally led by ADC Wokha, Renbomo Ezung. This was followed by a media briefing and the administration of a unity pledge by District Youth Officer, My Bharat, Hitesh Kumar.
The event featured a cultural performance by the NSS unit of Mount Tiyi College, garlanding of Sardar Patel’s portrait, and speeches reflecting on his enduring legacy of national integration.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Ezung called for collective responsibility in upholding the spirit of unity and oneness championed by Patel.
He reminded the youth that they are the future of the nation and urged them to lead lives rooted in discipline, integrity, and purpose, while staying away from drugs and other harmful influences.
Emphasising the vision of ‘Mera Bharat’, he encouraged young people to actively contribute towards building a united, progressive, and self-reliant India through community service, mutual respect, and national pride.
In his presidential address, Hitesh Kumar provided an overview of the programme and highlighted the importance of youth participation in fostering unity and nation-building.
The event concluded with cultural presentations, youth speeches, and singing of the national anthem, marking a fitting tribute to the architect of modern India.
