KIPHIRE — The United Sangtam Gazetted Officers’ Union (USGOU) celebrated its 25th anniversary at Hopongkyu Hall, Kiphire, on October 2 and 3 on the theme ‘Müngucheh La Nüang’ (Lead with vision).
Speaking at the event as special guest, Advisor for IT & C, Economics & Statistics, and Evaluation, S Sethrongkyu Sangtam reminded officers and leaders that positions are temporary and a one-time opportunity to serve the people.
He said the celebration is not just about marking 25 years, but about honouring the legacy, dedication, and service of the pioneers of USGOU. Sangtam encouraged officers to serve with integrity, humility, and accountability to both God and the people.
He further urged officers to work in unity, build good relationships across all levels, and let their contributions be remembered in a positive way.
“Change will not come on its own — it has to begin with us, even if small,” he added.

Informing that the union now has 261 members, he stressed that USGOU has always worked in unity with other organisations, including ENPO and USSC, for collective growth.
The celebration also featured cultural performances, a jubilee feast, and concluded with a business session attended by all officers and members.
