DIMAPUR — Commemorating 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets across Nagaland observed ‘Swachhata Diwas 2025’ on October 2 with great enthusiasm and commitment.
A defence release stated that the event was organised to spread awareness about cleanliness, hygiene and the values of community service, in keeping with the Father of the Nation’s timeless vision of a clean and self-reliant India.
It stated that a total of 1,257 NCC cadets from various colleges and schools along with NCC officers and permanent instructors actively participated in a series of activities held across towns and public places in the state.

The day’s activities included cleanliness drives in towns, campuses and public spaces; painting competitions highlighting the importance of hygiene and environmental protection; blood donation camps, underlining the spirit of service and humanity; cleanliness awareness rallies, where cadets carried placards and raised slogans to sensitise citizens and pledge for cleanliness by reinforcing individual and collective responsibility towards a Swachh Bharat.
It stated that the multifaceted celebration reflected the values of discipline, civic sense and community service inculcated by NCC training. It also resonated with Mahatma Gandhi’s message of “Cleanliness next to Godliness” and the ongoing national mission of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
It further stated that the widespread participation of cadets had not only demonstrated their dedication to the cause but also inspired local communities to embrace cleanliness as a way of life.
