DIMAPUR — The United Government of Nagaland/Naga National Council (Parent Body) [UGN/NNC (PB)] has clarified that it has not merged with GPRN/NSCN (Unification) and has termed such claims as false and misleading.
In a press statement, the organisation stated that the allegations are intended to confuse the Naga people.
UGN/NNC (PB), the organisation condemned the claims made by Kiutsangkhiung, who served as interim president from July 13, 2024, to August 20, 2025, and Kakuto Assami, who was kilo kilonser in charge from June 6, 2023, to January 1, 2024. Both were said to have been relieved of their responsibilities in 2024 and 2025 respectively, yet continued to project themselves as officials of the UGN/NNC (PB).

The UGN/NNC (PB) also criticised the GPRN/NSCN (Unification) for accepting the individuals, saying their induction reflected a desperate attempt to legitimise indiscipline and falsehood. It maintained that the two had no authority to represent or act in the name of the UGN/NNC (PB) and described their past misconduct as the reason for their discharge.
The release stated that the individuals’ actions were personal and not representative of the collective decision, policy, or stand of the party. It affirmed that all regional authorities and the central cabinets remain intact and fully functional under the leadership of President Akaho Swu and Ato Kilonser Nupavi Achumi.
The organisation said it was regrettable that a few individuals, driven by personal motives, are attempting to discredit the government, mislead the public, and undermine the sacrifices made for the Naga cause. It called on the Naga public not to be swayed by false propaganda.
The UGN/NNC (PB) reiterated that it stands firm and united under the umbrella of the NNPGs, led by GPRN/NSCN Ato Kilonser and Convenor N Kitovi Zhimomi, and that its commitment to the Naga cause remains steadfast.
GPRN/NSCN issues corrigendum
Meanwhile, the GPRN/NSCN (Unification) has issued a corrigendum to its earlier press statement titled “UGN/NNC (PB) merges with the GPRN/NSCN (NU)”.
“The correct nomenclature should be GPRN/NSCN (Unification) and not as published. We sincerely apologise for any confusion caused by this oversight and request our esteemed readers to note the correction. We strive for accuracy and clarity in our reporting and appreciate your understanding in this matter,” the corrigendum stated.
