Two-wheeler taxi service launched in Peren

DIMAPUR — The two-wheeler taxi service was launched and flagged off at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Peren New Headquarters, on Wednesday.


According to a DIPR report, the service is expected to benefit both the general public and the taxi operators, stated the deputy commissioner.


Flagging off the ceremony, DC Peren, Hiazu Meru, said that it was more than just a business initiative, describing it as “a movement to solve transportation and communication challenges" faster amidst congestion and traffic delays.


The DC stated that the facility would provide an accessible and economical transport system for everyone. He added that the initiative would not only serve passengers but also empower livelihoods by creating new earning opportunities for the community.

Meru encouraged the taxi drivers to wear helmets to ensure safety and advised them to be gentle and humble with passengers to uphold a good image of the district. He urged all drivers to cooperate with the government and follow the advice and guidelines issued to them.


He also expressed gratitude to the younger generation for their volunteering service to the public and wished them success in their business.


The flag-off programme was presided over by Mhashumi T Ezung, EAC Peren. A short speech was delivered by Haudibe on behalf of the taxi drivers.
