A two-week badminton coaching camp for girls under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative concluded in Kohima, promoting sports and empowerment.

DIMAPUR — The Kohima district administration, together with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Kohima, and the Kohima District Badminton Association (KDBA), organised the closing ceremony of the two-week badminton coaching camp for girls under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative on Monday.
The camp ran from June 23 to July 7 at the Indoor Badminton Stadium in Thegabakha, Kohima. According to an update, the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, attended the valedictory programme as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that it is important to identify one’s interests and talents by attending camps and programmes such as this. He also encouraged the participants to excel in their academic studies while developing their talents in sports and other fields.'

He urged the participants to remain consistent and expressed his hope that, through this camp, they would go on to win medals and awards in badminton, bringing pride to Kohima district.
Kesoneinuo Kense, gender specialist, DHEW Kohima, highlighted the BBBP scheme and its activities, while Khriekuonuo Khezhie, women secretary, KDBA, presented the summary report and brief statistics of the coaching camp, noting that girl students aged between 8 and 15 years participated. She also stated that sports shoes and racquets were provided to participants in need.
Participation certificates and cash prizes were presented to all participants of the coaching camp, and the concluding remarks were given by Kekhrie Pfukha, vice president, administration, KDBA.
