DIMAPUR — A two-week badminton coaching camp for girls under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative commenced at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Thegabakha, Kohima, on Monday.
According to a DIPR report, the camp aims to empower young girls through sport and is organised by the district administration and the Department of Social Welfare, with support from the Kohima District Badminton Association (KDBA).
The inaugural programme was attended by EAC Kohima, Ane Khieya, as the special guest.
Declaring the camp open, Khieya highlighted that the initiative under BBBP is designed to educate and empower the girl child, and the badminton camp serves as a platform to help young girls enhance their skills and realise their full potential.
She encouraged the participants to make the most of the opportunity, which is fully sponsored under the BBBP scheme, and to become an inspiration to other girls in the community.

A total of 30 girls from both government and private schools across Kohima are participating in the camp.
Badminton coaching camp in Noklak scheduled
Meanwhile, the district administration of Noklak has informed that, in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Noklak, under BBBP, badminton coaching will be organised tentatively from the first week of July at the Multi-Discipline Sports Stadium, Noklak.
According to a DIPR report, interested persons may submit the following details: name, age, gender, address, and contact number through the WhatsApp number 9863164705 on or before June 30.
Training will be conducted free of cost. Participants must bring their own kit and be below 18 years of age.
