Two teenagers were killed in Dimapur after a Gypsy hit three vehicles and ran over pedestrians; driver arrested.
DIMAPUR — Two teenagers were killed after a Maruti Gypsy allegedly hit three vehicles and ran over them at Veterinary colony near an ATM booth in Burma Camp, Dimapur, on Saturday evening.
According to a press note issued by the Dimapur Commissioner of Police on Sunday, the accident occurred at around 7.45 pm on August 29.
The Gypsy, bearing registration number NL 07 CA 5405 and driven by 25-year-old Bumei Phom, allegedly first hit a Royal Enfield motorcycle, a Maruti car and a pickup auto-rickshaw before running over the two pedestrians.
The victims were identified as 15-year-old Macagbou Charenamai and 17-year-old Gaisinlung Thangmei.
Both were residents of Burma Camp, Dimapur.

The two were seriously injured and shifted to hospital. Charenamai succumbed to his injuries at District Hospital, Dimapur, while Thangmei died while undergoing treatment at Nikos Hospital, Dimapur.
The driver was arrested, and a case was registered at East Police Station, Dimapur, under Sections 281, 106(1), 324(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 184 and 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Further investigation is underway.
