DIMAPUR — Nagaland is expected to experience continued monsoon activity over the next four days, with light to heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, forecast across several districts.
According to the weather outlook issued by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) for August 30 to September 2, rainfall of varying intensity is expected across all districts.
The district-wise outlook for August 30 has put Dimapur and Mokokchung on high alert, with thunderstorms, lightning, and light-moderate- heavy rain expected. Chümoukedima, Longleng, Meluri, Mon and Tseminyu face thunderstorm and lightning risk, while light-moderate rain has been forecast for Kiphire, Kohima, Noklak, Phek, Shamator, Tuensang, Niuland, Peren, Wokha, and Zunheboto.
On August 31, moderate to heavy rain is likely in Meluri, Niuland, and Wokha, while scattered light-moderate rain over Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Kiphire, Kohima, Mon, Noklak, Peren, Phek, Tseminyu, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, and Tuensang.
However, no active warning has been issues for Longleng and Shamator districts.

As per the NSDMA update, Chümoukedima, Kiphire, Meluri, Mokokchung, Niuland, Noklak, and Wokha districts are likely to experience moderate-heavy rain on September 1, while scattered light-moderate rain is expected in Dimapur, Kohima, Longleng, Mon, Peren, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu, Zunheboto, and Tuensang.

The NSDMA has advised the public to regularly monitor weather updates through the Safer Nagaland mobile application and its Weather Portal.
It went on to urge the citizens to follow official advisories and exercise caution while travelling, particularly along vulnerable and landslide-prone stretches, during thunderstorms and rainfall periods.
