Kohima will host the second Mr. Northeast Bodybuilding and Physique Championship 2026 on September 12.
KOHIMA — The second edition of the Mr. Northeast Bodybuilding and Physique Championship 2026 is scheduled to be held in Kohima on September 12.
The championship is organised by the Nagaland Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (NBBFA) under the aegis of the Indian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation and the Northeast Bodybuilder's Federation (NEBBF).
This was announced during a press conference addressed by NBBFA General Secretary Thejakhrietuo Kire, NEBBF President Pema WD Bhutia, NBBFA Treasurer James Murry, NBBFA President T Chubaonen Ao, NBBFA Executive Dziesevizo Sekhose, and creative partner from Elyzian Creative Mutseto Nyekha at D Café in Kohima on Saturday.
During the conference, the organisers stated that the championship is envisioned as a platform to bring together bodybuilding and physique athletes from across the Northeast.
All eight states of the region are expected to participate. Currently, about 70 athletes have indicated participation, and the organisers expect the number to increase as the registration process progresses.

The men’s bodybuilding competition will feature six weight categories: up to 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, and above 80 kg. In the men's sports physique category, there will be two height categories: up to 165 cm and over 165 cm. The women’s model physique category will feature one open category.
The competition will be conducted in accordance with the applicable federation rules and under the supervision of authorised technical officials and judges.
While expressing gratitude to existing sponsors, the organisers stated that they are seeking more partners, welcoming corporate bodies, businesses, organisations, and individuals who wish to support the event through financial sponsorship, products, services, or other forms of partnership.
Regarding athlete registration and public entry, the organisers clarified that the athlete registration fee is managed by the Indian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation. However, entry for the general public will be completely free.
Athletes from Assam and Manipur will undergo trial selection on August 30. The registration and weighing of the athletes will take place on September 11, preceding the main competition on September 12.
