First phase of IT equipment distribution in Tuensang boosts digital birth and death registration across 15 villages.

DIMAPUR — The first phase of IT equipment distribution programme for Tuensang district was held at District Economics & Statistics Office, Tuensang, on Tuesday.
Secretary, Economics & Statistics and Chief Registrar of Births & Deaths, Akunu S Meyase, in her speech, highlighted that registration of births and deaths are very important not only for proof of identity but also for data collection of population, where the government is dependent on this data for developmental schemes, a DIPR report stated.
The secretary informed that in the first phase, 15 villages are covered by providing IT equipment to the registrar for enrolment of birth and death certificates at the village level.

While highlighting the current scenario of online registration, she said the manual certificates are replaced by digital certification and urged the stakeholders to make good use of the equipment for the benefits of the community.
Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, and Director & Additional Chief Registrar of Births and Deaths, Nagaland, Neidilhou Keditsu also spoke on the occasion.
The programme was chaired by DESO & District Registrar of Births and Deaths, Tuensang, P Sokum.
