Tuensang DDMA, Mon district administration review rain damage as emergency response and relief measures continue across the district.
DIMAPUR — Emergency and coordination meetings were held in Tuensang and Mon to review the impact of continuous rainfall, landslides and road blockages, with authorities activating emergency measures, overseeing relief efforts and coordinating restoration work.
According to a DIPR report, an emergency meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Tuensang, was held at the deputy commissioner's (DC) office chamber, Tuensang, on Thursday to review the impact of continuous rainfall across the district.
Members reviewed the extent of destruction across the district, including reports of property damage, road blockages and landslides. No loss of life had been reported till Thursday.
The DDMA, Tuensang, informed members about the sinking of the District Transport Office located near the Post Office in Tuensang, following which 39 families were relocated to safer locations.
DC Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa informed the meeting that the District Emergency Control Room had been activated at the Circuit House, while a relief camp would be activated at the earliest possible time.
The DC requested all members to remain vigilant and responsive to ensure public safety. The availability of essential commodities in the district was also discussed.

Meanwhile, a coordination meeting on the natural disaster and landslide-affected areas in Mon town was held on July 22 under the district administration, attended by the DC, superintendent of police, Konyak Union, Konyak Students' Union, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong and Advisor for Social Welfare Wangpang Konyak at the Konyak Union office.
The DC briefed the meeting on road blockages and the progress of road clearance work. The Deputy Commissioner also updated members on the ongoing search and rescue operation to trace the missing person at the landslide site in Walo Ward.
The house was informed that efforts were underway to restore electricity under the supervision of the executive engineer and sub-divisional officer (Power). A line fault had been detected on the 66 kV Naginimora-Tizit line, and the clearance of fallen trees had begun.
Wangpang conveyed sympathy to the affected family and commended the district administration, Assam Rifles, civil society organisations, the District Executive Force and volunteers for their efforts.
The advisor handed over INR 2 lakh to the Konyak Union for emergency use, while the Langsa Hill Welfare Society donated INR 5 lakh to the landslide-affected relief camp.
