NEZCC Dimapur held a cultural programme at Phokhungri for Tribal Pride Day, celebrating tribal heritage and honouring Birsa Munda.

DIMAPUR — The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, under the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Art and Culture Department, Government of Nagaland, organised a cultural programme at Phokhungri village under Meluri district on November 15.
According to an update, the programme at the international border area under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative was part of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas (Tribal Pride Day) in India to honour the contributions of tribal communities.
The day was celebrated on the birth anniversary of tribal leader and freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

The celebrations include cultural and educational programmes across the country to recognise the history and heritage of tribal people. Five cultural troupes—Phokhungri, Avakhung, Lutsam, Phokhungri Town, and Phokhungri men—performed at the event.
President of the Phokhungri Area Cultural Organisation Thimbu Feedhu attended the event as the guest of honour.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by VCC Phokhungri village Hangsanthu, while Deputy Director-cum-Nodal Officer, Art and Culture Department, Nagaland, Teisovikuolie Therie delivered the keynote address.
