DIMAPUR — The Public Forum Pungro Sub-Division (PFPSD), Kiphire district, has expressed serious concern over the recent transfer of Paogougin Khongsai, field officer at State Bank of India (SBI), Pungro branch, without the posting of a reliever.
In a press release, the forum stated that Khongsai was posted to SBI Pungro branch in August 2025, following which banking services at the branch improved significantly.
“Customer grievances were addressed efficiently, pending works were cleared and the overall functioning of the bank became smooth and responsive. His presence brought much-needed relief to the people of this remote sub-division, who depend heavily on SBI Pungro branch for essential banking services,” the PFPSD.

However, his sudden transfer on November 24 without a reliever has caused serious disruption in banking operations, it stated.
“Since then, the people of Pungro sub-division have been facing considerable hardship, including interrupted services, delays in transaction and a growing number of unresolved customer grievances.
“Given the geographical remoteness and limited manpower at the branch, the absence of a field officer has adversely affected the day-to-day functioning of the bank,” the forum stated.
The forum appealed to the SBI’s higher authorities to urgently reconsider the transfer order, ensuring either Khongsai's retention or the prompt posting of a suitable reliever, to ensure uninterrupted banking services and address the people's genuine concerns.
“Any further delay may compel the public to intensify their democratic protest, for which the authorities concerned shall be solely responsible. We strongly believe that the concerned authorities will act promptly in the larger public interest,” it added.
