DIMAPUR — A one-day training programme on the livestock insurance scheme under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) 2025-26 was conducted at TT Garden in the Tzusapang sector of Mokokchung on April 18.
The programme was held to enhance awareness among farmers and equip para-veterinarians with the knowledge to assist farmers in availing the benefits of livestock insurance.
According to an update, the programme was chaired by Deputy Director Dr. Toshiwati. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Tiachuba Jamir, Chief Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer of Mokokchung.
He highlighted the need for registering livestock on the Bharat Pashudhan portal to avail of insurance benefits to mitigate financial losses. He also assured assistance from the CVO office to the farmers in availing the insurance facility.

A technical session on livestock insurance was led by Farm Manager Dr. Nemjemyanger Kubzari, who elaborated on the livestock insurance guidelines, claim procedures, and benefits available under the scheme.
He also explained the role of para-veterinarians and farmers in ensuring proper documentation and working with the insurer to resolve them.
The event included an interactive feedback and discussion session where participants shared their queries, experiences, and concerns. A short speech was delivered by Akumyanger, SVFA, who thanked the department for the initiative and cited the need for wider outreach.
