Department of Industries and Commerce hosts Trade Expo 2026 in Avakhung to boost grassroots trade and entrepreneurship.

DIMAPUR — The Department of Industries and Commerce, Nagaland, organised a Trade Expo 2026 at Avakhung, Meluri district, on February 12, with the participation of local entrepreneurs, traders, farmers and artisans from the border areas.
According to a DIPR report, the expo was a locally arranged initiative aimed at promoting grassroots commerce, encouraging entrepreneurship and strengthening economic activities in the region.
The event witnessed participation from the citizens of the Phokhungri area, representatives from the district administration, Assam Rifles, PAPO officials and surrounding villages, fostering community engagement and boosting market linkages.
Addressing the gathering, P Tokugha Sema, Director of Industries and Commerce, Nagaland, stated that the Trade Expo 2026 marks a new beginning for strengthening grassroots trade and economic cooperation in the border areas, enhancing livelihood opportunities and promoting self-reliance.

A special awareness session on departmental schemes was conducted for traders, entrepreneurs, farmers and artisans.
The session covered the Chief Minister Micro Finance Initiative (CMMFI) scheme by Cholzo Sophie, Joint Director of Industries and Commerce; Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) by Dapunyi Zholia, FM, Sub-DIC Meluri; Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme; and Export Procedures and Documentation by Imsongmeren Imsong, Inspector of Industries & Commerce; and Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialisation Scheme (UNNATI-2024) by Pepenthung Lotha, Consultant, PIU UNNATI-2024.
Participants were briefed on key benefits, eligibility criteria and application procedures under each scheme.
The Trade Expo 2026 was inaugurated by Tokugha along with Col. Iqbaljeet Singh Dhillon, CO, 39 Assam Rifles, Phek.
