DIMAPUR — The Tikhir Tribal Council (TTC) has submitted a representation to the Nagaland Director General of Police, urging the inclusion of aspirants from Tikhir tribe residing in Noklak district in the now-declared Nagaland Police constable recruitment.
The council also requested the establishment of a common recruitment centre at Shamator for Tikhir candidates from Noklak, Shamator, and Kiphire districts.
In its letter, the TTC expressed concern that the recent recruitment notification excluded the Tikhir tribe in Noklak district, causing disadvantage to deserving candidates from the community.
The council maintained that establishing a common centre in Shamator would ensure accessibility, convenience, and equal opportunity for Tikhir aspirants across the three districts, specifically for 13 posts under the Tikhir quota.

It also sought inclusion of specific Tikhir settlements—Thonoknyu town, Thonoknyu village, Tsukhenkiu village, and Thongsonyu village—under Noklak district in future recruitment notifications to prevent confusion in district-wise post allocation.
Further, the TTC proposed that it be allowed to suggest district-wise post allocation in future recruitments, based on accurate population percentages of the Tikhir community in Noklak, Shamator, and Kiphire districts.
The council also assured that candidates possessing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the TTC office should have their documents accepted, reminding that some Tikhir candidates may still have “Yimkhiung” listed in official records prior to formal recognition of the Tikhir tribe.
“The inclusion of the Tikhir tribe in recruitment and establishment of a common centre will promote fairness, inclusivity, and greater participation of Tikhir youth in Nagaland Police recruitment,” the TTC stated.
