KOHIMA — The third edition of the Nagaland Potato Festival has been scheduled to be held at the Jakhama village ground in Kohima on May 15, starting at 10 am.
This was announced during a press conference in Kohima on Tuesday by the organiser, Jakhama Village Council, represented by Coordinator Dr. Teputo Richa, Co-convenor Kevithüzo Tase, Coordinator Vikehiezo Kulnu, and Event Manager Kikokhü Richa.
Vikehiezo Kulnu stated that farmers have the potential to produce agricultural products, but many still face the challenge of market linkage. He added that they envisage connecting farmers by organising the festival and promoting local products.
Dr. Richa stated that they are expecting a promising harvest this year, unlike last year, which was affected by climatic changes. He informed that farmers have already started harvesting. In the first edition, farmers generated about INR 32 lakh from selling potatoes, while last year it came down to about INR 15 lakh due to a poor harvest.
