KOHIMA — A book titled 'The Story Keeper Book of Mothers’',the first book from The Story Keeper Series, honouring and celebrating mothers, was released at Hotel Japfü in Kohima on the eve of Mother's Day.
Edited by Vishü Rita Krocha, the book is a collection of poems, short stories, and personal essays written by 23 contributors. Neitsanuo Tepa, who is a mother, released the book with a prayer.
Krocha, publisher of PenThrill Publication House, noted that the book is a tribute to the sacrifices, the fierce protection, and the unconditional grace that defines motherhood.
“Every contributor has reached back into their memory to capture a specific light—a lesson learned at a kitchen table, a lullaby that lingered, a fond memory of a mother figure who filled the void of the absence of a biological mother, or the strength of a woman who built the best world possible for their children to exist in," she noted.
She added that the book is a living testament to the women who have shaped people in profound and often unseen ways, ensuring that while time may pass, their stories remain safely held within the pages of the book.
She stated that mothers are the anchors of the past, the first teachers, everyday heroes, and the architects of the future, adding that it is only fitting that life's journey begins with them.

The Story Keeper, a retail store of PenThrill featuring Think Designs managed by in-house designer Jabu Krocha, envisages being a place where stories can continue to live by transforming oral traditions into the written word.
Clinical Psychologist and founder of The Cloud Room, Kohima, Themmungla Raman Longkumer, spoke on ‘what it means to be a mother’.
Sharing her personal experience, she said she had experienced helplessness she had never known before when her nine-month-old had to undergo heart surgery. The experience made her realise that motherhood is not just about love, as there are moments when that love feels like it is not enough, moments when one cannot fix, pretend, or control.
Mhalesinuo Krocha, who is a mother, said appreciation for mothers should not be limited to one day alone. She called upon all to commit, support, cherish, and honour mothers every day.
She added that one must recognise that mothers have dreams and aspirations beyond their roles as caregivers. She further encouraged everyone to be the source of their strength, just as mothers have been for their children.
Sochumlo Suki Ezung and Dr. Keneilhoulie Medom, Anaesthesiologist and Managing Director of Kohimas Hospital, presented a poem dedicated to mothers.
