- DIMAPUR — A joint
Khalun preservation declaration, organised by the Tening Village Youth
Organisation and Nsong Youth Organisation was held on June 5 at Meguiki River
Bridge, Peren district, in the presence of EAC Tening, Ihoilung Chuilo.
- Declaring the one-kilometer-long preservation area open, the
EAC praised the youth organisations for taking the initiative to protect fish
and their habitats from overexploitation, which can lead to a decline in fish
population and disrupt the natural ecosystem. He urged both Nsong village and
Tening village youth organisations to prohibit all forms of fishing in the
designated Khalun preservation area.

- The village youth organisations also passed a resolution to
prohibit all types of fishing in the conservation area. Any individual or group that violates the
resolution will face severe consequences, including fine of INR 10,000. The
preservation area extends from Nchum giu (main bridge) to Ntiang giu (hanging
bridge).
- Other who spoke at the events included Tening village
council chairman and youth presidents of Tening and Nsong villages, GBs, and
range officers.

including representative from both the village councils and administrative
