  • DIMAPUR — A 19-year-old student from Unity Christian Higher Secondary School, Diphupar, has been missing since the afternoon of May 24, prompting police investigation and growing concern from family members.

  • Pesha Khiamniungan, a resident of 5th Mile, Model village, reportedly left home around 1:00 pm to meet friends and has not returned since. His mobile phone has been switched off since Saturday evening, and attempts by his family to reach him have been unsuccessful.

  • According to his father, Pesha had recently moved to Dimapur from Assam and had studied up to Class 10 at St. Anthony’s School in Lokra, Sonitpur district. The family has been unable to identify which friends he was planning to meet on the day he went missing. His last known location was with a red Scooty bearing registration number AS-12-G-6685.

  • A police official at Diphupar Police Station confirmed that a missing person report has been lodged and an investigation is currently underway to trace the student.

  • In a separate case, a Class 12 Science student from Little Star Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, was reportedly abducted on May 22 at around 4 pm near the New Market area by unknown individuals in an auto-rickshaw.

  • The incident gained attention after it began circulating on social media platforms.

  • When contacted, Dimapur Commissioner of Police Kevithuto Sophie confirmed that no formal complaint had been filed by the victim’s family. “It is difficult for the police to investigate such cases in the absence of an official complaint,” he said.

  • However, the police have taken note of the incident and initiated a preliminary inquiry. According to Sophie, the student has since left Dimapur and is currently in Wokha with his parents.

  • The school principal told this newspaper that May 22 was the student’s last day in class.
