According to an update, during the programme two members of the village were honoured—Tarachu Fithu, who was promoted to the post of director, Urban Development, and Kusa Fithu, who was promoted to additional secretary, Department of Information and Public Relations.
In his welcome address, Moses T Fithu, chairperson of the event, stated that the dual promotion of siblings to such senior positions within the same period was unprecedented in the history of the Pochury tribe. He said the achievement was a result of continued prayers and blessings.
Leaders and representatives from various organisations and neighbouring villages delivered speeches congratulating the two officers. They were described as individuals known for their wisdom, integrity, and commitment, serving as examples and sources of guidance for the Pochury community and the Nagas in general.
A spiritual message was given by Rev. Waghichu, followed by a collective prayer led by pastors from different denominations under the Phoyisha area.
In their addresses, Kusa Fithu and Tarachu Fithu expressed gratitude to God and their parents for their prayers, guidance, and sacrifices. They recalled their early years marked by hardship, including walking long distances to school, often carrying rations. New road connects Yisi salt-making site at Throshi
Meanwhile, on October 18, prior to the event, Tarachu inaugurated the Khroshi Kütüpü Link Road connecting the salt baking site of the traditional Yisi Dhüpfhü (brine water cake) at Throshi, located between Yisisotha and Hutsu villages under Weziho Block, Meluri district.
The area, known for its traditional salt considered medicinal and culturally significant, had previously been inaccessible by motorable road.
The Yisisha Ajüti Lüphü (YAL) initiated the construction of the link road to promote rural tourism and improve access to the salt-making site. The work was completed in about 10 to 12 days, providing safer and easier access for the local community and visitors.
During the inauguration, Tarachu commended YAL for its initiative and dedication to cultural preservation. He urged the community to continue maintaining traditional practices while observing hygiene and safety standards. The new road is expected to boost local economic activity, tourism, and connectivity to the local salt factory.
