The six-day Tana-Bana District Handloom Expo was inaugurated at Pfutsero, showcasing Nagaland's handloom and handicraft heritage.

DIMAPUR — The Tana-Bana District Handloom Expo (DHE) was inaugurated on Monday at the Baptist Theological College (BTC) Ground, Mission Compound, Pfutsero, Phek district, by Rev. Dr. Chekrovei Cho-O, executive secretary of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC).
The six-day exhibition is being organised by the Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. (NHHDC) with sponsorship from the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
According to a press release issued by the NHHDC, the expo will continue until July 18.
The expo features 40 skilled participants, including master artisans and weavers from various districts of Nagaland.
Visitors can explore a wide range of traditional handloom fabrics and handcrafted products that showcase the state's rich cultural heritage, tribal identities, and craftsmanship.

The NHHDC stated that the primary objective of the expo is to create sustainable marketing opportunities for rural weavers and artisans by connecting them with contemporary buyers and expanding access to domestic as well as international markets.
The initiative also aims to strengthen market linkages, promote the state's traditional handloom and handicraft products, and enhance the economic empowerment of grassroots artisans, thereby supporting the long-term growth and sustainability of Nagaland's handloom and handicraft sector.
