AIDA launches a three-month tailoring training programme under the initiative of Advisor Tovihoto Ayemi to empower women in Dimapur.

DIMAPUR — ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) launched the "Empowering Women Through Tailoring" training programme for women and girls from the Dimapur-I constituency at the AIDA, Don Bosco Campus, Dimapur, on June 16.
According to an update, the three-month skill development initiative is being conducted under the initiative of MLA and Advisor for Tribal Affairs and Election, H Tovihoto Ayemi, with the objective of promoting women's empowerment, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihood opportunities through vocational training.
HR and Director of Training and Programmes of AIDA, Dr. Bibiana Lungbila, encouraged the trainees on the occasion to make the most of the opportunity.
She expressed hope that the programme would contribute to their personal growth, self-reliance, and economic empowerment. She highlighted that the training programme seeks to equip women with practical skills, enhance their confidence, and open new avenues for sustainable livelihoods.
Executive Director and Chief Functionary of AIDA, Rev. Fr. Dr. Roy George SDB, delivered the keynote message, encouraging the trainees to approach the training with dedication, patience, and perseverance. Sharing the success story of a trainee from a previous tailoring programme in the Phek district, he reminded participants that initial challenges should not discourage them, as consistent practice and determination lead to success.

He noted that tailoring is a valuable livelihood skill that remains relevant and can provide long-term economic benefits. He also expressed appreciation to Ayemi for his support in making the programme possible and acknowledged his commitment towards creating livelihood opportunities for women in the constituency. He further thanked Personal Assistant to the MLA, Mharhonthung Murry, along with the support team, for facilitating the initiative.
Representing Ayemi, Murry conveyed the advisor's message and reaffirmed his commitment to empowering women through skill-based interventions. He stated that skill development remains one of the most effective pathways towards economic independence and self-reliance. He encouraged all trainees to remain sincere and committed throughout the training period, noting that the knowledge and skills acquired would contribute significantly to their future livelihoods and family well-being.
The tailoring training programme will cover basic stitching, machine handling, cutting and measurements, garment construction, alterations, finishing techniques, and entrepreneurship-related skills. A total of 60 beneficiaries will undergo training over a period of three months.
