Nagaland joined the nationwide launch of Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, with health camps and awareness drives across districts until October 2.

DIMAPUR/WOKHA — The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA) was launched across multiple districts of Nagaland on Wednesday, aligning with the nationwide campaign inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Dhar, Madhya Pradesh.
The campaign, which will run until October 2, aims to strengthen women’s health and family well-being through comprehensive health services and awareness activities.
Wokha: The campaign was formally launched in Wokha at the conference hall of Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital (DMMDH), with Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar attending as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Kumar stated that while various schemes and programmes for women and child welfare were already in place, initiatives like SNSPA remain vital to bridge gaps in implementation.
He clarified that the campaign was not a new scheme but a “renewed focus” on women’s health and family wellbeing.

Highlighting challenges at the grassroots level, the DC identified lack of awareness, logistical constraints, and reluctance to access services as key barriers. He also pointed to societal factors such as stigma and patriarchy, which often deter women from seeking timely healthcare.
Kumar further emphasised the importance of early childhood care and nutrition, noting that the first five years are critical for a child’s physical and cognitive development. He called upon departments, healthcare professionals, and civil society organisations to ensure the campaign yields tangible outcomes during the 15-day period and beyond.
He also appealed to the hospital management to maintain functional emergency night services, maternity care, and other essential health facilities.
Longleng: The District Health Society Longleng participated in the nationwide programme at the District Hospital (DH), Longleng, with Deputy Commissioner W Manpai Phom attending as the special guest.
During the programme, Dr. Lanuakum, medical superintendent, DH Longleng, in his keynote address, stated that the campaign will transform women’s health and family well-being through free medical check-ups, immunisation, anaemia testing, tuberculosis and sickle cell anaemia check-ups, malaria testing, and special consultations for women.

Alongside, the campaign promotes nutritional and wellness practices, infant and young child feeding, and menstrual hygiene awareness. He also highlighted the aims and objectives of the campaign, stated an update.
Chief guest Manpai, in his speech, said that the initiative is expected to significantly improve key health indicators, particularly by reducing the maternal mortality rate through comprehensive health check-ups, screening, testing, and immunisation provided at the health camps.
He said the programme aims to address gaps identified in national health surveys and to enhance healthcare access in both urban and rural areas by deploying specialist medical services. He further extended his supportive involvement from the administration and line departments and requested community participation for successful implementation of the campaign.
Mokokchung: Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma launched the district-level campaign at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung.
Delivering a short speech, he said that the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan is “India’s largest ever woman and child health campaign that aims to reshape the health system and build a better future.”
He acknowledged the performance of the Department of Health and Family Welfare and the Department of Social Welfare in the district and stated that the campaign is an opportunity for various departments to come together and provide services to the community in the deepest corners of the district.
Zunheboto: The District Health Society Zunheboto launched the campaign along with the Poshan Abhiyaan at DH Zunheboto. Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj attended the occasion as the guest of honour.

Speaking at the launch, Raj highlighted that the initiative places women at its centre, recognising them as the cornerstone of every family and community. He further noted that the state and central government schemes under the campaign are designed to empower women by ensuring access to quality healthcare and welfare benefits.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Antoly Suu, deputy chief medical officer, Zunheboto, announced that as part of the campaign, 49 health camps, including general and specialist camps, will be conducted across the district, offering services such as anaemia and adolescent health screening, immunisation, screening for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), tuberculosis, vector-borne diseases, NACO counselling, and mental health support.
The campaign will also feature TB Ni-kshay Shivir activities, community participation, Ayushman Bharat and CMHIS enrolment drives, and awareness on nutrition.
Representatives from the Social Welfare Department Mughalu Awomi, district coordinator of Poshan Abhiyaan, and Ngvuito Awomi, district coordinator of PMMVY, stressed the importance of addressing obesity by reducing the intake of sugar, salt, and oil, promoting physical activity, and adopting healthier diets.
They also introduced the Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi initiative, which aims to strengthen early childhood care and education (ECCE) through play-based learning and parental involvement.
Phek: Phek district launched the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan at Dr. Wethselo T Mero Memorial Hall, District Hospital Phek.
Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Nguori officiated the launch in the presence of the chief medical officer, medical superintendent, district programme officers, doctors, and other dignitaries.
It was mentioned that the campaign will cover all Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, community health centres, and the district hospital. Key activities include screening of women for NCDs and TB, anaemia screening for adolescent girls, antenatal check-ups, immunisation services, and IEC and community engagement.
Peren: In Peren, the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan was launched at the district hospital.
In her keynote address, Dr. Viholi, DPO (NCD), stressed the importance of healthy living, saying that “a healthy woman is the foundation of a happy family.” She urged participants to become ambassadors in creating awareness about the activities carried out.
ADC Peren, D. Robin, encouraged women to spread awareness on family life and avail themselves of the special services and schemes provided by the government. He emphasised healthy eating habits and lifestyles, saying that a healthy mother is the backbone of the family.
On the occasion, a total of 45 patients received treatment, 46 lab investigations were conducted, and screenings and consultations were carried out across eye, gynaecology, ENT, AYUSH, X-ray, and dental departments.
Tuensang: The campaign was launched at the conference hall of District Hospital Tuensang.
Speaking on the occasion, EAC Tuensang, Moasanen Imsong, said that women empowerment cannot be achieved without health improvement of women in society, as they are the backbone of the family.
He added that society will progress with active participation of women in policy-making, encouraged by healthy lifestyles. He urged line workers to actively work for the success of the campaign.
