Super Senior FC and Doyang Strikers secure wins to reach the MDFA Trophy semi-finals after thrilling quarter-final matches in Mokokchung.

MOKOKCHUNG — Super Senior FC beat team Gilgal 2-1, and Doyang Strikers defeated Sangpang Reju Sporting Club (SRSC) 5-0 in the MDFA Trophy quarter-final matches at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung, on Monday to advance to the semi-finals of the ongoing tournament.
In the first quarter-final match, Pool A topper Gilgal started strongly, but Super Senior FC took the lead just before halftime.
Sentisang scored in the 40th minute to give Super Seniors a 1-0 advantage at the break. Gilgal pressed hard in the second half, maintaining possession and creating chances, but Super Seniors held firm in defence.

Nyithung added a second goal for Super Seniors in the 70th minute, spotting the Gilgal goalkeeper off his line and sending a precise chip into the net. Gilgal managed a consolation goal through Mughato Chishi in the 90th minute, but their attempts to find an equaliser during six minutes of added time were unsuccessful, ending their campaign.
In the second quarterfinal, Doyang Strikers of Pool C defeated SRSC 5-0 in a one-sided match. Yhoto opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, followed by goals from Gamchui in the 20th minute and Khanngam Horam in the 36th minute, giving Doyang a 3-0 lead at halftime.
After the break, Yhoto scored his second goal in the 48th minute, and Eshong completed the scoring in the 72nd minute. SRSC were unable to recover and were eliminated from the tournament.
The third quarterfinal will feature Telongjem FC against Sports Society Soyim at 12 noon, followed by Chargers FC facing Thunderbolt FC at 2 pm on October 21.
