- DIMAPUR — The
Amahator Range Students’ Union has submitted an urgent appeal to the Deputy
Inspector General (DIG) of the ARCH Shokhüvi Camp, demanding a thorough
investigation into the alleged unnatural death of Assam Rifles personnel,
Tsalichum.
- According to the union, the deceased, a resident of Old
Risethsi village, was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside the
Shokhüvi Camp around 12 to 2 on Friday while on active duty. The union
described the incident as deeply concerning and has called for accountability
and transparency in the investigation process.
- In the memorandum submitted to the DIG, the students’ body
urged the formation of a special investigation team to probe the incident,
citing the need for neutrality and timely results. The union asserted that such
a step was essential to ensure justice is served and to uphold the dignity of
personnel serving in uniform.

- “We stand in solidarity with the bereaved family and call
upon the competent authority to ensure that justice is delivered without
delay,” the appeal stated, adding that the “sacrifice of a soldier on duty must
not go unanswered.”
- A similar representation has also been submitted to the Deputy
Commissioner of Chümoukedima.
- Tsalichum, the deceased, was described by the union as a
dedicated and disciplined serviceman.
- As of the time of filing this report, no official statement
has been issued by the Assam Rifles or the district administration.
