Multiple student and youth organisations demand a thorough probe and justice for two Don Bosco students killed in a hit-and-run in Dimapur.
DIMAPUR — Multiple student and youth organisations have condemned the tragic road accident on August 29 that claimed the lives of two Don Bosco Higher Secondary School students, demanding a thorough investigation and swift justice.
According to reports, the victims were returning home after a futsal game and walking along the roadside on the night of August 29 when they were struck by a Maruti Gypsy, allegedly driven by 25-year-old Bumei Phom.
The incident was reportedly a multiple hit-and-run case in which pedestrians and several other vehicles were also struck.

Dimapur Naga Students’ Union: The union expressed its deepest grief and strongly condemned the accident that cut short two young lives. The DNSU urged the authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure that the person responsible is held accountable and justice is served.
It extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, friends, classmates, teachers, and the entire Don Bosco community.
Rongmei Students' Organisation Nagaland: The organisation condemned the tragic hit-and-run and expressed its deepest condolences to the grieving families.
It appealed to law enforcement agencies to conduct an impartial investigation and take strict legal action to ensure the accused receives a befitting punishment in accordance with the law. The organisation also urged authorities to deliver swift justice to the families.
Zeliang Students' Union Nagaland: The union stated it was deeply shocked and heartbroken. The union demanded that authorities conduct a serious criminal investigation rather than treating the incident as a routine road accident, particularly to establish whether the vehicle was deliberately driven over the students after they were knocked down. The union urged the police to file a strong charge sheet, apply stringent charges, and ensure no dilution or compromise is made.
It further urged the competent authority to compensate the families under the Victim Compensation Scheme.
Western Naga Youth Front: The front expressed deep sorrow and strongly condemned the incident, describing the circumstances as highly disturbing.
The front called on the police and concerned authorities to conduct a fair and comprehensive investigation. It demanded that if negligence, reckless driving, or deliberate intent is established, the strongest legal action must be taken.
The organisation also urged the authorities to provide due compensation and assistance to the bereaved families.
Tenyimi Youth Organisation Dimapur: The organisation expressed profound grief and condemned the reckless driving and disregard for human life.
The organisation urged law enforcement authorities to conduct a swift, thorough, and impartial investigation to bring the culprit to justice.
Pointing out the rise in road accidents, it also appealed to the concerned authorities to implement immediate safety measures, including strictly enforcing traffic rules, monitoring reckless driving, controlling speeding, and enhancing overall road safety in Dimapur.
Zeliang Youth Organisation Dimapur: The organisation expressed deep shock and anguish over the tragic demise of the two students.
It vehemently condemned the reckless act and urged law enforcement agencies to ensure that a befitting punishment is awarded to the culprits in accordance with the law, without bias or delay.
The organisation demanded strict enforcement of measures to curb rash driving to prevent future tragedies and appealed to the community to maintain peace and allow the law to take its rightful course.
