DIMAPUR — State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema, conducted a two-day training programme on ‘Soil health management and soil health card in agriculture’ on September 3 and 4.
An update from SAMETI stated that resource persons from the Department of Soil & Water Conservation namely Rontilo Kent, joint director; Kihika G, ASCO (Engg.); Mekrulou Mero, JSCO; and Dr. Sentimenla, assistant professor of Soil Science at NU:SAS, Medziphema campus, spoke on ‘Soil health card- Importance of SHC,’ ‘Criteria for availing SHC,’ ‘Uses of SHC,’ ‘Soil sample testing,’ ‘Parameters of SHC,’ ‘Fertilisers recommendation,’ ‘Importance of soil health management,’ ‘Bio-fertilisers-uses and dosage (Azotobacter, Rhizobium, Azospirillum, Phosphotica),’ ‘Integrated nutrient management-organic fertiliser,’ ‘Macro and micro nutrient- organic and in-organic,’ ‘Green manuring,’ ‘Farm yard manure,’ ‘Crop rotation and mixed cropping.’
It stated that participants were taken for field visits to Agri Chemistry Laboratory, Bio-control Laboratory and Bio- fertiliser laboratory.

It stated that the valedictory programme was chaired by Yezaho Swu, deputy project director of SAMETI, while the valedictory address was delivered by Seyievielo Sono, vice principal of IETC, Medziphema.
It further stated that certificates were distributed to all the participants and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Akam Zeliang, deputy project director of SAMETI.
