- DIMAPUR — The
department of Civil Engineering, St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima, organised
Estribos 2025, the fourth National Level Technical Symposium, on the theme
"Build today, lead the way” on April 11.
- According to an update, the event served as a platform to
celebrate knowledge, creativity, and collaboration among budding engineers,
industry professionals, and academia.
- Speaking on the occasion, V Julia Achumi, principal of
Government Polytechnic Doyang, as the chief guest, shared anecdotes about her
time as a student in Mechanical Engineering—a field traditionally dominated by
men—and how she overcame societal and academic challenges to establish herself
in the engineering profession.

- She emphasised the importance of resilience,
self-confidence, and continuous learning in shaping a successful career. Achumi
also highlighted the relevance of civil engineering in nation-building and
encouraged students to embrace both innovation and ethics in their professional
endeavours.
- The guest of honour, Atoba Longkumer, co-founder of
Tabernacle Technologies and a senior consultant with the Ministry of IT,
Government of India, encouraged students to think beyond conventional
boundaries, highlighting the role of innovation in solving contemporary civil
engineering challenges.
- Imtiwati Jamir, past honorary secretary of the Institution
of Engineers (IEI) Nagaland State Centre, talked about the contributions of IEI
in enhancing professional competencies. He encouraged students to become
members of IEI and benefit from the network of engineering professionals across
India.
- A key highlight of the event was the official unveiling of
Teleiotes 3.0, the third volume of the Civil Engineering department's annual
magazine. The magazine encapsulates student articles, faculty research, event
reflections, and achievements of the department.
- The programme was attended by more than 100 students, along
with faculty members from various departments.
