A three-day Spring Market Affair gets underway in Kohima.

DIMAPUR — A three-day ‘Spring Market Affair,’ curated by Petals & Pearls in collaboration with the Silviculture division under the Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, got underway on May 21 at the State Botanical Garden, New Ministers’ Hill, Kohima.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Florence T Sangtam, range forest officer, Silviculture Range, Kohima, who also delivered the welcome address. In her address, she highlighted that the event is a celebration of nature, sustainability and community participation.
An update from the department stated that the guest of honour and Conservator of Forest (RP&U), Lhinghoikim Touthang, has described botanical garden as a “living library of plants” that promotes biodiversity conservation, environmental education and public awareness. She emphasised the importance of gardening and creative hobbies in reducing stress. Besides, she encouraged healthy lifestyles and to support entrepreneurship and small businesses.

Speaking on behalf of the organising team, Kenei Mor stated that the event was organised to celebrate creativity, culture, local entrepreneurship and community collaboration by bringing together artisans, entrepreneurs and workshop facilitators on a common platform.
It mentioned that the Spring Market Affair featured plants, flowers, handcrafted products, food stalls, floral and lifestyle displays, artisanal shopping and a variety of creative workshops including soap making, decoupage, bonsai making, floral arrangement and gift wrapping.
The event aims to promote sustainability, creativity and active community participation.
