- DIMAPUR — Ministry
of Labour and Employment, in collaboration with the state government, is
organising a 10-day special nationwide registration campaign to register
platform and gig workers on e-Shram portal from April 7 to the 17th.
- The Assistant Labour Commissioner-cum-deputy CEO of NBOCWWB,
Vikeheto Naki, informed that the special campaign is part of the initiative
being undertaken by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India,
where the Union Budget 2025–26 has introduced progressive measures to support
this workforce.
- Gig workers are those engaged in hourly or part-time jobs in
everything from catering events to software development and platform workers
implies those working for organisation providing specific services using online
or digital platform or delivery agents.

- The campaign is a crucial step towards providing formal
recognition and comprehensive health coverage under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan
Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
- The key provisions of the campaign include registration of
gig and platform workers on the e-Shram portal; Issuance of official identity
cards; Access to AB-PMJAY, offering INR 5 lakh annual health cover per family
across 31,000+ empanelled hospitals.
- During the 10-day drive, on-ground registration camps would
be facilitated in all districts across the state through the office of the
Assistant Labour Commissioner.
- In this regard, all platform-based gig workers are
encouraged to participate in the special drive. Those unable to attend a camp
could also self-register on the e-Shram portal through the link
