DIMAPUR — The district administration and District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Niuland, organised a legal awareness session as part of the special awareness campaign under Sankalp at council hall, Hovishe village, Niuland district, on Monday.
District mission coordinator, V Vily Chophy, provided an introduction to Mission Shakti and highlighted its objectives and initiatives, a DIPR report stated.
Resource person Visheli H Yeptho, panel lawyer at Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA), conducted a capacity-building session covering key legal acts, including Domestic Violence Act, Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, Dowry Prohibition Act, and Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITPA).
The session aimed to empower participants with knowledge of their legal rights and protections.

The event saw participation from women representing various segments of society, including Sumi Totimi Loka and members of self help groups.
“The legal awareness session underscored the commitment of the district administration and DHEW Niuland to promoting women's empowerment and legal awareness through the Sankalp initiative,” the report stated.
The programme, chaired by accounts assistant Meryka Sumi, began with an invocation by Kikali, president of STL, while Tunato I Zhimomi delivered the vote of thanks.
