Spartan Club Lakhuni win U-16 Nagaland Open Volleyball Tournament

Spartan Club Lakhuni won the 1st Under-16 Nagaland Open Volleyball Tournament in Mokokchung, defeating Yajang United 3-1 in the final.

MOKOKCHUNG — Spartan Club Lakhuni emerged victorious at the 1st Under-16 Nagaland Open Volleyball Tournament, clinching the title in the final against Yajang United at the Multi-purpose Indoor Stadium, Mokokchung, on June 28.


Organised by Evergreen Club, Ungma, the tournament featured eleven teams, including one from Kohima.


In the final, Spartan Club Lakhuni outplayed Yajang United, winning 3-1 (25-19, 17-25, 11-25, 10-25). Gen Alpha Chungtia claimed third place, while Empire Mizuma took fourth.

Tasenmongba of Spartan Club Lakhuni earned Best Setter, while teammate Tekamongba was named Best Spiker.


Maongkumzuk of Yajang United was crowned Player of the Tournament for his outstanding all-around performance.


Atsungba Walling, ADC Mokokchung, attended the closing ceremony as guest of honour. In his speech, he lauded the young athletes for their dedication and congratulated Evergreen Club for their initiative in promoting volleyball.


The tournament kicked off on June 26 with Rural Development and State Institute of Rural Development Minister Metsubo Jamir as chief guest.
