Sümi Chess Association Nagaland will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a championship from August 20 to 22 in Dimapur.

DIMAPUR — The Sümi Chess Association Nagaland (SCAN), formed in the year 2000, will be celebrating its silver jubilee on 20 August with the theme “Always a step higher”. Rev. Kihoto Rotokha, Evangelist, Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) Akuvuto, will be the guest speaker for the inaugural programme.
According to an update, while commemorating its 25 glorious years, the association will hold a chess championship from August 20 to the 22nd at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur, wherein Dr. Inazhe Phuleahe, former Director of the Rural Development Department, will be attending the championship.

The Championship is titled the All Sümi Chess Silver Jubilee Championship 2025, and participants must belong to the Sümi community worldwide. A total prize fund of INR 2,80,000 has been proposed for the event.
The entry fee for players is INR 500 for the open category and INR 100 for the U-14 and U-18 categories. Individual prizes will be awarded for the best female player, the best player below 10 years, the best senior player (above 55 years), among others.
