KOHIMA — On Tuesday, Kohima, Chümoukedima, and Mokokchung each secured their second win in the ongoing Dr. T Ao Trophy, strengthening their positions on the group chart.
Mon secured an important victory, while Niuland, who had easily defeated Shamator in their last match, failed to extend their winning streak at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
The day’s matches began with Kohima facing Meluri. Kohima once again delivered a decisive 5–1 victory over Meluri. The hosting district had earlier secured a 3–0 win over Tseminyu in the opening match last week.

Shortly after the match began, Nyeiwang of Kiphire scored an own goal in the 12th minute, giving Mokokchung the lead. Substitute Moajang added a sixth goal in the 67th minute, sealing a memorable victory for Mokokchung.
A stiff competition sealed the day’s matches as Mon took the upper hand with a 2–1 win over Niuland. This victory is crucial for Mon, as their first match of the tournament against Tuensang ended in a draw last week.
After much pressure from both sides, Tingshak scored the first goal just before half-time (38th minute) from a distance. The team’s lead was doubled by Laiwang Bohham in the 54th minute. Less than two minutes later, Hivika netted a much-needed goal for Niuland in the 56th minute.
However, that was not enough to secure a win, as Mon had already taken the advantage.
