DIMAPUR — In an effort to support Anganwadi workers with better tools for efficient coordination and reporting, the Chizami ICDS Project under the Department of Social Welfare distributed Samsung Galaxy A06 smartphones to Anganwadi workers on June 26.

The smartphones were provided strictly for official use, with the aim of streamlining digital documentation, improving communication, and enabling the use of platforms like the Poshan Tracker—a mobile application developed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development to monitor child and maternal health services under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, an update stated.

Speaking at the distribution, District Programme Officer (DPO) Kevineinuo Rio, highlighted the importance of digital tools in strengthening frontline services.

She encouraged workers to embrace this shift and utilise the devices diligently and responsibly.

Senior Supervisor Zekote Therie also addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of accountability. He reminded the workers that the phones are government property and should be used strictly for work-related purposes.

“The distribution aligns with broader efforts to modernise service delivery and bring transparency and efficiency to grassroots welfare programmes. The smartphones will help Anganwadi workers report in real time, access resources, attend online trainings, and improve communication with supervisors and departments,” the update stated.

The programme concluded with the formal handover of devices, and workers expressed gratitude and readiness to adapt to the digital tools provided.
