DIMAPUR — Advisor for Social Welfare, Wangpang Konyak, on Friday distributed smartphones to 20 Anganwadi workers of Jalukie ICDS Project under Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0 Scheme, during a programme held at Jubilee Hall of St. Xavier's Parish in Jalukie town.
During his speech, Wangpang Konyak highlighted that his visit's main objective was to identify key issues and challenges faced by Anganwadi workers, in addition to distributing smartphones, a DIPR report stated.
He stressed the department's humanitarian role, urging officers and staff to work sincerely from their postings, emphasising that their presence can drive positive societal change.

The advisor also urged department officials and staff in the district to maintain close coordination with the district administration to ensure smooth implementation of various welfare schemes.
Wangpang also stressed the importance of raising awareness among villagers regarding the different schemes being implemented by the department. He encouraged the officials and Anganwadi workers to actively disseminate information so that the benefits of these schemes reach the grassroots level.
He further flagged the issue of fake entries in old-age pension schemes, urging officials and Anganwadi workers with verifying and removing ineligible beneficiaries, and submitting monthly reports.
Further, the advisor said that the smartphone distribution aims to enhance Anganwadi workers' efficiency, enabling real-time monitoring and timely reporting. He urged them to utilise the technology effectively, work with dedication, and leave no room for excuses.
Short speeches were also delivered by the Secretary of Social Welfare, Yongchingkumla and Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Hiazu Meru. The Advisor was accompanied by the Secretary of Social Welfare, Joint Secretary and other officials from the directorate.
Earlier, programme began with welcome address by Tsungrosongla Ao, DPO of Peren and concluded with a vote of thanks by R Chirhotshu Nyusou, CDPO, Jalukie ICDS Project.
Following the formal programme, the advisor also held an interactive session with the officials and staff of the Social Welfare department, Peren, during which he carefully noted the issues raised and assured them that their concerns would be addressed.
