East and South zones secured wins in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy at Nagaland Cricket Stadium Sovima, while rain forced the North-West Zone match to be abandoned.

DIMAPUR — East Zone registered a commanding nine-wicket victory over North East Zone in a rain-shortened encounter of the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, on Thursday.
According to an update, despite the match being reduced to seven overs per side, East Zone dominated all departments, with Ashwani leading the charge through an explosive unbeaten 36 off just 11 balls to be named Player of the Match.
After being asked to bat first, North East Zone managed to post 42 for 4 in their allotted seven overs. Nabam Yapu top-scored with a brisk 22 off 15 deliveries, providing a brief spark at the top.
East Zone’s bowlers maintained tight control throughout, led by Sushree Dibyadarshini, who delivered an impressive spell of 3 for 10 in two overs, dismantling the North East Zone middle order.
In response, East Zone wasted no time chasing down the target, reaching 43 for 1 in just three overs. Ashwani’s aggressive stroke play ensured a swift finish, as East Zone wrapped up the match with nine wickets in hand.

Meanwhile, at the Sovima Cricket Ground, the match between North Zone and West Zone was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to a wet outfield.
Following multiple inspections by umpires and match officials, the ground was declared unfit for play, prioritising player safety. As per tournament regulations, both teams were awarded two points each.
In another match at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, South Zone defeated Central Zone by 44 runs.
South Zone posted 135 for 8 in 20 overs after opting to bat first, led by a composed inning from S Meghana, who top-scored with 42 off 31 balls, while Niki Prasad contributed 38 off 38 deliveries.
Despite disciplined bowling from Central Zone’s Vaishnavi Sharma, who took 3 for 28, and Amisha B with 2 for 15, South Zone managed to maintain momentum throughout their inning.
In reply, Central Zone were restricted to 91 for 9 in 20 overs. Mona fought a lone battle with 37 of 41 balls but found little support from her teammates. South Zone’s bowlers dominated proceedings, with spinners Sahana S Pawar (2 for 14) and C Prathyusha (2 for 16) ensuring regular breakthroughs to secure a comfortable win.
