- DIMAPUR — Mokokchung
and Dimapur on Friday won their respective matches at the ongoing Senior Men’s
Inter-District Tournament 2025.
- In a thrilling encounter between Mon and Mokokchung at
Sovima Cricket Ground, Mokokchung emerged victorious defeating Mon by 5
wickets. The match saw a fantastic all-round performance, with both teams
battling hard under the bright sunshine, an update stated.
- Mon won the toss and opted to bat first. The team struggled
to form partnerships and was bowled out for just 111 runs in 32.5 overs.
Renthungo Lotha was the top scorer with a steady 26 off 29 balls. Mokokchung's
bowlers dominated the innings, with Amongti Lkr being the standout performer,
taking 3 wickets for 22 runs in 8 overs. Vijay Rai also contributed significantly
with the ball, picking up 3 wickets for 23 runs in his 6 overs.
- Mokokchung chased down the target of 112 with ease,
finishing at 112/5 in 24.3 overs. Merenchemba was the star performer for
Mokokchung, staying unbeaten on 43 from 60 balls to guide the team to victory.
Nihal Rai provided solid support, remaining not out with 29 runs off 43 balls.
Despite a brilliant effort from Mon's Mugavi Wotsa, who claimed 4 wickets for
24 runs in 5 overs, Mokokchung’s batting remained steady to secure the win.
- Amongti Lkr’s outstanding performance with the ball earned
him the Player of the Match award.
- In the second match of the day between Dimapur and Kohima
played at Cricket Stadium, Chümoukedima, Dimapur secured a commanding 156-run
victory over Kohima. The match saw a stellar all-round performance from
Dimapur, particularly from Hem, who delivered a match-winning spell with the
ball after leading his team to a dominant total with the bat.
- Dimapur won the toss and opted to bat first. The team posted
a formidable total of 315/7 in 50 overs, with standout contributions from Hem
and Anirudh Yadav. Hem top-scored with 88 runs from 87 balls, while Anirudh
Yadav remained not out on 53 from 59 balls. The Dimapur innings was well-paced,
with steady contributions from various batsmen. Kohima's bowlers struggled to
contain the run rate, but Samuel Zaputou and Sepichem Jingru did manage to pick
up two wickets each, with Zaputou finishing with 2/32 in 6 overs and Jingru
taking 2/50 in 10 overs.
