- DIMAPUR — In the
Senior Men’s Inter-District Tournament 2025, on Thursday, Niuland played
against Tseminyu, and Chümoukedima faced Wokha.
- According to an update, in the match between Niuland and
Tseminyu, the former secured a 214-run victory in a match that was interrupted
by rain. The match saw reduced overs, with Niuland's innings shortened to 36
overs at Nagaland Cricket Stadium
- After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Niuland
posted a total of 289/6 in 36 overs. Wahid Ali played a pivotal role in the
innings, scoring a brilliant 97 runs off 80 balls, supported by Afzal
Choudhury, who contributed 69 runs off 67 balls.
- The top bowlers for Tseminyu, Henry Kent and Kechesin
Keppen, each took 2 wickets for 49 and 50 runs, respectively, in 7 overs, but
were unable to stem the flow of runs.
- In their chase for 290, Tseminyu were bowled out for just 75
runs in 20.1 overs. Selo Apon was the top scorer for Tseminyu with 17 runs off
12 balls, and Sinilo Kent contributed 13 runs off 16 balls.
- Niuland’s bowling attack, led by Akavi A Yeptho, was
exceptional. Yeptho claimed 4 wickets for just 14 runs in 4.1 overs, ensuring
Tseminyu had no chance of mounting a serious challenge.
- For his brilliant performance with the bat, Ali was named
Player of the Match.
- In the other match, Chümoukedima triumphed over Wokha by 21
runs.
- Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Chümoukedima
posted a modest total of 104/9 in 20 overs. The top scorers for Chümoukedima
were Mughavi Sumi with 32 runs off 41 balls and Neizekho Rupreo, who remained
unbeaten on 19 runs off 12 balls.
- Wokha's bowling attack was spearheaded by W Thechamo Odyyo,
who put in an exceptional performance, taking 4 wickets for just 7 runs in 4
overs, helping to restrict Chümoukedima to a low total.
- In response, Wokha struggled to chase down the target and
was bowled out for 83 runs in 20 overs. The top scorer for Wokha was Lijanbemo
Patton with 25 runs off 24 balls, while Nzanthung Mozhui contributed 22 runs
off 27 balls.
