DIMAPUR — The BJP 37 Tyui Mandal organised an Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan Vidhansabha Sammelan at the BJP Office, Wokha, on Tuesday.

In a press release, the BJP Wokha stated that the event featured Deputy Chief Minister and BLP Leader Y Patton as the main speaker.

In his address, the BLP leader stated that the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, launched by the Government of India, aims to make every citizen self-reliant.

Patton highlighted Prime Minister Modi's vision for a self-reliant India, driven by the strength, talent, and enterprise of its people. He cited examples of successful initiatives, such as the One District One Product (ODOP) programme in UP and the upcoming Banana Festival in Wokha.

By 2047, PM Modi visions India to be fully self-reliant, he stated, while also emphasising his focus on developing North-east India, with policies aimed at benefiting the region.

Patton noted that the introduction of GST in 2017 and the government's efforts to review and improve it have garnered a positive response from businessmen. He added that even religious leaders are supporting the BJP party and praying for Modi, citing the Pope's birthday wishes to the Prime Minister as an example.

On the current political scenario in the state, the deputy CM welcomed the chief minister’s decision to rejoin the NPF Party, stating that multiple regional parties in a small state like Nagaland is not that feasible.

The BJP Wokha Unit also extended full support to the NPF-NDPP merger. “This historic move will strengthen the regional political landscape, fostering greater development and progress in the state.

The BJP Wokha hopes that the merger will usher in a new era of cooperation and unity among the people of Nagaland driving overall growth and prosperity,” the party unit stated.

It further congratulated the leadership of both parties for taking “this bold step and looks forward to collaborative efforts for a better Nagaland.”

Nongothung Kikon, vice president of BJP Wokha and convenor for Atmanirbhar, highlighted the concept of the meeting and led the Karyakartas in taking the Atmanirbhar Bharat Swadeshi pledge.

The programme was chaired by Chumben Enny, general secretary of 37 Tyui Mandal, and welcome address was delivered by Ekonthung Kikon, president of 37th Mandal.
