- IMPHAL — In a
series of intelligence-based operations conducted in the seven hills and valley
districts of Manipur, Indian army and Assam Rifles under Spear Corps
apprehended 29 cadres with arms and ammunitions.
- According to PRO Assam Rifles (South), the operation was
launched in coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF and ITBP in
Churachandpur, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Senapati, Imphal East and Imphal
West between May 13-18.
- "Acting on intelligence inputs regarding the presence
of arms and warlike stores in the area G Khomunnuam of Phougakchao in
Churachandpur district, the Indian army, in coordination with Manipur Police,
launched a search operation on May 12," says PRO of Assam Rifles (South)
in a press release on Tuesday.

- It stated that the joint operation resulted in recovery of
six weapons comprising one single barrel rifle, three improvised mortars
(pompi), two pistols, grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
- On May 14 in Thoubal district, an intelligence operation by a
joint team of Indian army and Manipur Police in the general area of Leirongthel
Pitra resulted in the recovery two pistols.
- Similarly on May 15, Indian army in coordination with CRPF
and Manipur Police launched a search operation and recovered five weapons
comprising one SLR rifle, two single barrel rifles, two improvised mortars
(pompi), grenades, ammunition and war like stores from Langza near Kumbi in
Bishnupur district.
- On May 16, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched an
intelligence based search operation in general area of Wabagai Buffalo Farm
near Keirak in Kakching district and recovered six weapons comprising one
carbine machine gun (CMG), four bolt-action single barrel rifles, revolver,
grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
- On the same day in Senapati district, an operation in the
general area of Kalinjang, Assam Rifles launched an operation and recovered
four weapons comprising two bolt-action single-barrel rifles, one .22 Rifle,
one 9 mm pistol ammunition and war-like stores.
