- IMPHAL — Security
forces apprehended 8 cadres of different armed organisations including one
active cadre of Chin Kuki National Defence Force (CKNDF), who were involved in
cross-border arms and cadre movement in Manipur.
- The arrested cadre of CKNDF, a non-suspension of operation
group, based in Moreh and Myanmar, was identified as Thongkhohou Touthang (34)
of Tonglal Veng, Churachandpur district from Tuibong under Churachandpur Police
Station in Churachandpur district. He was arrested on May 16.
- “He is involved in the recruitment of youth for armed
insurgency for CKNDF group and cross-border arms and cadre movement,” says
Manipur Police in a press note on late Friday night adding that “He is also
involved in demanding extortion from the public in the name of CKNDF.

- Security forces have seized one mobile phone along with one
SIM card from his possession.
- On the other hand, other arrested cadres of different armed
groups, according to a police press, included four Kangleipak Communist Party
(PWG), two People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Pro) and one cadre of
United National Liberation Front (P).
- Meanwhile, security forces recovered a huge cache of arms
and ammunitions during operations and area domination in the fringe and
vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.
- The recovered items included one 303 rifle with magazine,
one 9 mm pistol with 3 magazines, one country made pistol, six live rounds of 9
mm pistol, three .303 LMG magazine, seven carbine magazine, 6 live rounds of
7.62 mm ammunitions, 19 rounds of AK 47 (5.56 mm), one wood piercing shell, 410
empty cases of 7.62 mm rounds, 6 tube launching (mini flare), 5 normal tear
smoke shell, 2 tear chili smoke shell, 2 wireless set battery (Motorola) and
one white sack containing the above items/ articles from Nungjengbi Urup Hill
under Irilbung Police Station.
