Assam Rifles and Spear Corps marked Army Day with events in Kohima and Dimapur, and conducted medical camps in Zunheboto and Meluri.

DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles conducted multiple outreach and welfare activities across Nagaland.
As part of Army Day observance, Assam Rifles organised an interaction programme for ex-servicemen of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles in Kohima, according to a press release.
The programme was aimed at recognising the service and contributions of veterans. An Army Day special video highlighting the history and role of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles was screened during the event.
Assam Rifles also conducted medical camps at Tsuruhu village in Zunheboto district and Kanjang village in Meluri district as part of its community outreach initiatives. At Tsuruhu village, 80 patients were examined, including 30 women, 28 men, and 22 children. Medical personnel carried out general health check-ups, addressed common ailments, and distributed essential medicines.
At Kanjang village, 210 individuals availed medical consultation. Patients with ailments such as fever, cough, and skin-related conditions were examined and treated. Medicines were provided as required.

In addition to medical treatment, awareness sessions were conducted focusing on hygiene, sanitation, and early identification of illnesses.
Information was also shared on vector-borne diseases, tuberculosis, and HIV and AIDS, with emphasis on prevention and early detection.
An awareness session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, was conducted at Assam Rifles Public School, Phek, for students and parents. The session focused on child protection, legal provisions under the Act, the role of parents and guardians, the importance of early reporting of offences, and available support systems for victims. A total of 42 participants attended the session.
In a separate initiative, the Spear Corps of the Indian Army organised a multi-speciality medical camp at Dimapur in connection with the 78th Army Day and following the 10th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day. The camp was organised for veterans, veer naris, and their dependents from Dimapur and adjoining districts of the Northeastern region.
The medical camp provided specialist services, including screening for chronic geriatric conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.
Obstetrics and gynaecology consultations were provided for spouses, while general outpatient services and primary health triage were conducted by medical officers. Dental check-ups and basic dental procedures were also offered. The camp also focused on preventive healthcare and lifestyle guidance for senior citizens.
