DIMAPUR — The Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) Bhandari discussed the recent commotion and vandalism at the Nagaland State Seed Farm, Merapani, during its meeting held at the conference hall of the Summer House-cum-Guest House, Bhandari, on December 16.
During the meeting, Lawrence, deputy director of the farm, informed the house that a commotion and ensuing scuffle took place on December 14 at the farm, according to a DIPR report.
He stated the situation was brought under control with the intervention of the district administration and law enforcement personnel from both Nagaland and Assam.

He further informed that on December 15, individuals and groups vandalised a part of the State Seed Farm Baptist Church, established in 1882 within the farm premises. An FIR relating to the matter has been lodged at the nearest police stations in Bhandari and Merapani.
Urging the house to take serious cognisance of the matter where a place of worship was desecrated, the deputy director appealed to all concerned not to take the law into their own hands.
Longasen Lotha, additional deputy commissioner and vice chairman of SDPDB Bhandari, advised the department to impose a total ban on hunting within the State Seed Farm to maintain a peaceful environment.
In his opening remarks, Lotha lauded the Bhandari-based officers and staff for their service. The house also proposed and accepted the creation of an ‘Officers Club Bhandari’ to foster a common goal and serve the public better.
