Sao Chang College observes World Museum Day

DIMAPUR — The History department of Sao Chang College (SCC) in Tuensang organised an advent observance of World Museum Day at its Tribal Museum on Friday on the theme “Museums uniting a divided world” with emphasis on cultural heritage and unity.
An update from the college stated that the programme was chaired by assistant professor, Bachu Yhoshii, and with the college’s principal, Dr. Lanurenla, as the special guest.
In her welcome address, K Chongliu Khiamniungan, Head of the Department, noted that museums are dynamic spaces that preserve heritage while fostering unity and dialogue.

It stated that assistant professor, Langnyei Imlichuba Phom, briefly spoke on the history and purpose of the tribal museum, followed by presentations on traditional Naga morungs, focusing on the Khiamniungan, Chang and Sangtam morungs. The presentation on Khiamniungan morung was made by Liang, while Chang morung was made by Imti Mongba and on Sangtam morung was made by Arela, all 6th semester students, who highlighted both the general features and the distinctive aspects of their respective morungs.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by assistant professor, Alitoli Sumi.
It mentioned that the event underscored the important role of museums in promoting cultural understanding and unity.
