Sangtam Students’ Union Kohima hosted a cultural programme in Kohima to celebrate traditions, unity, and community spirit.

DIMAPUR — The Sangtam Students’ Union Kohima (SSUK) held a cultural programme at the State Academy Hall, Kohima, on Saturday on the theme “Araa Khu Wüang” (From Roots to Beyond).
According to an update, in his welcome address, Longtili C Sangtam, president of SSUK, said that the celebration was not just about songs and dances but about honouring traditions, remembering elders, and strengthening unity among students and the community.
He also informed that the present enrolment of Sangtam students in Kohima stands at 646.
Thsapongse Sangtam, president of Sangtam Union Kohima, expressed satisfaction with the programme and encouraged the students to carry forward Sangtam culture and be ambassadors of their community while pursuing education.

Adekhing I Sangtam, president of the United Sangtam Students’ Conference, praised SSUK for organising the programme.
He encouraged students to strive to be better citizens and to uphold peace and unity in society. He further announced his sponsorship for Sangtam students pursuing Ph.D. studies in History, Archaeology, and Anthropology.
Guest of honour, T Imlikumzuk Sangtam, urged the students to be responsible, stay rooted in culture, and use digital platforms wisely for learning. He reminded the gathering that respecting parents, elders, and God is never outdated.
Highlighting the challenges of unemployment, he encouraged students to look beyond government jobs and competitive exams to explore broader opportunities.
