KHENSA — The 4th edition of Khensatsür Shisatokden Senden began on the evening of September 26 at Khensa Baptist Church in Mokokchung district, bringing together 374 delegates from Mokokchung, Kohima, Dimapur districts, and Khensa village.

Organised by the Women Ministry of Khensa Baptist Church on the theme ‘Südem Akangshiro’ or ‘Tightening the wrap,’ a metaphor for a mother’s nurturing strength binding family and society, the three-day conference will conclude on September 28.

The annual event, now in its fourth year, seeks to unite women from diverse corners of the district and village, fostering mutual support and harmonious living.

The opening day featured a panel talk moderated by Bendangrenla.

Temjenmenla, Deputy Director at SCERT, opened the topic with ‘Loktiliba aser Kaket Shisatsü terenlok’ (Social and educational development), stating that “Education transforms society, and society evolves with education.”

She stressed the necessity of training, workshops, and digital literacy, declaring, “Age is no barrier to learning— Digital literacy is no longer an option but necessary.”

Arenchila, Christian Education Director at Khensa Baptist Arogo, spoke on ‘Wainshin’ (Social values and etiquettes), emphasising the power of speech.

“How we speak shapes our relationships — 90% of failures stem from poor communication,” she noted, advocating for mutual respect across generations.

Sademmongla, a retired DEO from Dimapur, spoke on ‘Yimsüsübaren nung Tetsür Shilem’ (Role of women in polity), inspiring financial independence.

“When women stand on their own financially, families rise,” she said, highlighting the need to stay current with trends.

A Toshirenla, a PGT teacher at NI Jamir, Mokokchung, addressed ‘Tamangbaren,’ calling for introspection to strengthen family faith. “Change begins at home,” she reminded the audience.

The session ended with a lively question and answer session, allowing delegates to connect with the speakers, fostering a sense of community dialogue.

On Saturday, the conference showcased an exhibition of local produce and crafts, featuring Khensa women’s traditional attire, handicrafts, fresh flowers, and home-grown vegetables and fruits. The display was formally opened by Nikesono Kevichusa, Deputy Secretary, Government of Nagaland.
