DIMAPUR — The launch of the Aspirational District Programme and the Aspirational Block Programme of Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 was held at the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Conference Hall, Kiphire, on January 30.
According to a DIPR report, the event was attended by Longdiba L Sangtam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kiphire, as the special guest.
Speaking at the launching programme, Longdiba said that Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 has recorded significant improvements in service delivery through focused and time-bound interventions in other districts. Therefore, he said that the Kiphire Aspirational District and Aspirational Block have to actively participate and contribute more to overall progress through strengthening outreach by frontline workers and improved community engagement.

Under Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0, the Kiphire Aspirational Block will work towards the saturation of some key indicators related to health and nutrition, education, and allied sectors. These include regular supplementary nutrition for children under ICDS at Anganwadi centres, provision of functional toilets and drinking water, availability of adequate girls' toilet facilities in schools, and vaccination of bovine animals.
It was mentioned that the campaign is expected to strengthen grassroots governance, sustain earlier gains, and accelerate inclusive development in the block, ensuring inter-departmental convergence, proper documentation of activities, and timely submission of progress reports.
He also said the district is fortunate to have been selected as an Aspirational District in 2018 and also as the Aspirational Block. This aspiration has been selected based on it being the "most far-flung district in the country and the most underdeveloped".
Earlier, the chief medical officer, district education officer, district programme officer of the Social Welfare Department, chief veterinary officer, and area coordinator of NSRLM, RD, Khongsa, also spoke in the programme.
